Made it to Bangkok

Well as planned, I arrived here at 3:18 p.m. Monday. It was 5:18 a.m. in Georgia and 38 hours after I left home. What a TRIP!

The airplane seats were, however, very comfortable. Some are not. I flew in a Boeing 777 from Atlanta to London, and a Boeing 747 (my favorite ) from London to Bangkok.

I must admit though that I was a "bit" tired when I arrived in London at Heathrow airport.

And Heathrow is a tremendous airport spread out all over England it seemed like! I never saw the main terminal or front door. When we deboarded our plane via a jetway and walked about 1/2 mile or so to what ended up to be a bus stop. I found out I was in Terminal two, and needed to be in Terminal Three. So I went to Bus stop number Three, and we must have gone 15 miles! Or so it seemed. We went thru tunnels, around luggage warehouses, between planes and just on and on. Finally Terminal Three. I have no idea where one and four are, and never saw Terminal two after leaving it.

I had planned to go into the English country side, but being a "bit" tired, and considering the hassle to get back to terminal three, I decided resting close to the Gate was a better choice. And then the gate was a "posted" 20 minute walk from the waiting area! With no moving sidewalks.

I could have eaten a "funghi" pizza, for $15.00, or a hamburger for $12.00. Funghi I think is mushrooms, I didn't get one. To me, the English have some pretty gruesome sounding names for their food. When I go back through there I hope I won't be as tired and can take notes on some of the terms used to describe food. It sounds much worse than in Laos. But in Laos most of it also taste bad.

Okay - hot shower, AC room, two large bottles of water - I think I'll take a nap!

Tomorrow morning I will go to the Lao Embassy and get my VISA to enter the country.

Tomorrow night I leave for Vientianne Laos in a "seat" car instead of a sleeper car. I've never ridden in a "seat" car train in Thailand, its always been sleepers. So in another day, I'll know which is best!

Toot'le loo, -- may miss blog tomorrow, but will for sure blog from Vientianne.
