The travel begins!

Okay, It's time to begin the trip. I will leave Moultrie about 1 p.m. for a 3 1/2 hour drive up to Atlanta.

Pictured with me are my two future travel buddies, Brody and Sam Ray.

All the girls in my family will take me up to Atlanta today. I enjoy it, its a field trip with"the girls". They however are stuck with the return trip, but I suspect they will stop along the way and do a little shopping!

Time wise the trip to Bangkok looks like this:

Arriving at the airport in Atlanta Three hours before flight time,
followed by an eight hour flight to London.
In London I have an Eleven hour layover.
To Bangkok,Thailand from London is direct - no stops - and it takes 11 hours and 15 minutes.

Including the 3 1/2 hours from home to airport,
plus 1 1/2 hours to disembark from the plane in Bangkok, go thru immigration and get a Thai Visa, go through customs, change dollars for Bahts,
and catch a taxi to my guesthouse in downtown Bangkok,

THE TOTAL TIME FOR THE TRIP IS 38 HOURS!

Now that is a trip you can 'really get hold of!" I arrive in Bangkok at 3:35 p.m. on August 9th. It will be 6:35 a.m. on the 9th in Georgia.

MY LUGGAGE:
My backpack weighs 17 pounds and my day bag (man-bag)6 pounds.
My packed clothing consist of:

one pair of quick dry long pants that have zip off legs,
one pair underwear,
one pair of quick dry short pants,
and one quick dry t-shirt.

I wear all my other clothes:

one pair of long pants,
one t shirt,
one pair underwear,
one long sleeve shirt,
and my shoes are a pair of flip flops.

I also have windbreaker in my pack,
a pair of TEVa strap on sandals,
plus a pair of leather socks for walking in rough terrain wearing in sandals.

So my next blog should be from Bangkok, the "Your Place GuestHouse" opposite the
Hua Lampong Railway station. The guesthouse in central Bangkok, private bath with hot water and a "Roman toilet" (not a squat toilet), air conditioning, wi fi and cost $15.00 a night. Its one of my better overnight stays!

Stay with me - the trip will get better!
